ADMISSIONS AND ENROLLMENT

Admissions Lottery Process

The 2024-25 admission lottery was held March 7, 2024.

Because the number of applicants always exceeds the number of available spaces at Foundation Academies, all student applications are placed into a computerized, random admissions lottery.

Numbers not selected in the admissions lottery are placed on the Wait List in the order their number was selected.

You can check your place on the Wait List by logging into SchoolMint after March 15, 2024.

FA is a public charter school open to all students.

The random lottery process ensures that students are selected without regard to academic ability, gender, race, religion, national origin, household income, or disability/special needs of the students or the parents/guardians.
Priority is given to Trenton residents and siblings of currently enrolled scholars.

Behind the scenes: how the lottery works

  • Each applicant receives a random number for the lottery to be held MARCH 7, 20243 for the 2024-25 academic year.
  • The random admissions lottery will include applications filed by the FEB 23, 2024, 9:00 pm deadline. The lottery will focus on kindergarten and 9th grade.
  • Trenton residents get first priority for admission. If spaces remain after admission of all eligible Trenton residents, non-resident applicants selected by lottery may be admitted.
  • Siblings of currently enrolled FA scholars are given preference. If space is available in the sibling’s requested grade, the sibling is automatically admitted. If not, they are given priority on the Wait List.
  • Numbers not selected in the admissions lottery are placed on the Wait List in the order their number was selected. You can check your place on the Wait List by logging into SchoolMint after March 15, 2024.

For example...

Your child applied for a seat in the 5th grade, and space is available!

If space is available in that grade AND their lottery number is selected in the lottery drawing, he/she would be admitted.

You applied, but no space is available in the 5th grade.

If no space is available in the 5th grade, your child will be placed on the Wait List.

If a space becomes available any time during the school year, your child could be admitted.

Your child will remain on the Wait List until the end of the school year, at which time the list expires.

PLEASE NOTE: The wait list DOES NOT roll over: you must complete A NEW APPLICATION for EACH student you wish to enroll for the following school year.
