An Exciting Morning at FA Primary Thanks to Glenmede Guest Readers

Glenmede director Bob Kiep reading “The Serious Goose” by Jimmy Kimmel to excited FA Primary scholars

Last month, FA Primary had the pleasure of hosting volunteers from Glenmede for our virtual “Drop Everything and Read” day. D.E.A.R. is a national initiative that encourages young readers to build literacy skills and develop a love of reading. Several times a year, we invite FA supporters and friends to celebrate with us by reading their favorite books to our primary school scholars.

Representatives from the Princeton and Philadelphia offices of Glenmede tuned in to Google Meet bright and early to virtually visit our Kindergarten, first, and second grade classrooms. Books included The Serious Goose by Jimmy Kimmel, Strega Nona by Tommy dePaola, The Jester has Lost His Jingle by David Saltzman, and The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. Despite the early hour, volunteers were energized and engaging and our scholars had a blast!

Robert “Bob” Kiep, Director of Glenmede’s Princeton Regional Office and a member of the FA Leadership Council, was also kind enough to donate his favorite book to the school. Our students and teachers were thrilled by the virtual visit and we’re so grateful to have such thoughtful and engaged community partners.

“Thank you so much for reading to our class and our own copy of The Serious Goose,” says Kindergarten teacher Yuri Kim. ”It will make a great addition to our classroom bookshelf!”
