Celebrating Hispanic Heritage

Hispanic Heritage month

Foundation Academies celebrated Latin culture, honoring local Latina community leaders, holding a flag parade, sharing traditions, and sharing a new video featuring Latin educators discussing how their heritage inspires their teaching.

The Hispanic Heritage Community Celebration, hosted by FA’s National Honor Society, Unity and PODER club members in grades 9-12, featured Latin music, dance, art, and food while honoring local leaders

In addition, Collegiate and Primary School scholars partnered on a flag parade to share the history and culture of Latin America.

And Collegiate students painted Frida Khalo inspired pumpkin portraits while sipping on homemade cultural drinks from Latin America, such as Agua Fresca, Agua de Jamaica, a Dominican beverage known as Morir Sonando, and Horchata.

CEO Sheria McRae kicked off FA’s celebration Sept. 15 with a message to families and staff thanking “our scholars, families, faculty and staff for sharing their rich and vibrant culture every day by just being YOU.”

She shared a new video, “Empowering Them to Lead” produced by Julio Delgado ’19 and featuring several FA Latin school leaders speaking about the importance of diversity and how their culture inspires them as educators and role models.
