Celebrating Scholar-Athlete Successes in the 2019-20 Season

Our Middle and High School student-athletes have been hard at work this year, showing up as leaders in the classroom as well as on the athletic field. At Foundation Collegiate Academy (FCA), Boys and Girls Soccer both had seasons full of triumph and strong growth, our first-ever Girls Volleyball team had a successful inaugural season, and our FCA football players enjoyed a great season of playing alongside their peers at Trenton Central High School.

Speaking of football players, FCA 11th Grader Ari Jenkins took a big step toward achieving his goal of increasing his athletic ability and earning a scholarship for football when he represented Trenton at the USA Football International Bowl in Dallas, Texas in January. Ari worked hard to prepare: balancing academics, athletics, and extracurricular football training, and got to showcase his skills LIVE on ESPN3 as part of the U-18 Select team! FAmily excitedly watched at home as Ari locked in the first score of the game. We hope you could hear all of us cheering for you here at home, Ari! We are so proud of you!

We’re now well into Basketball season and our both our FCA and Middle School Boys Basketball teams have been steadily growing and improving as they bring their very best to the court. In addition, our middle and FCA Cheerleading squads have been keeping the energy high at games with their amazing performances.

“I am very proud of all of our student-athletes this year,” said FCA Athletic Director Damien Castagne. “They have all shown the same grit and determination on the athletic field that they show in the classroom day-in and day-out. A big highlight for our community this year has been watching a first-year high school Girls Volleyball program grow and evolve into a truly connected team of ladies who support one another and give it their all, all the time. The same holds true with our Cheerleading squad, who consistently level-up their performances with each new game. Every day I get to witness the growth of our student-athletes, and the experience has been nothing short of amazing. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will bring!”
