Foundation Academy Middle
Exploring Their Role
In the World
Founded in 2007, FA Middle serves students
in Grades 6 through 8.

At FA Middle...
Trying new things and exploring options helps students begin to develop a sense of themselves and challenge themselves to grow academically and socially. Nurturing the whole person is our objective.

About Foundation Academy Middle
When students enter FA Middle, they are viewed no longer as developing children but as developing members of the global community. In grades six through eight, the curriculum shifts—both in academics and character development—to expand into areas of self-pride, exploratory learning, and developing skill sets that can be applied to their future careers and interests.
At FA Middle, we focus on celebrating our backgrounds and the differences between us, as well as increasing the rigor of lessons to model what will be expected of them in high school.

Angela Joyner, FA Middle School Principal
My "Why..."
"This work is connected to my purpose and a matter of social justice. My desire is to impact students that look like me and empower them to not only advocate for themselves, but also see that no matter their socioeconomic status and background, they can attain WHATEVER their heart desires."

Prior to joining Foundation, Ms. Joyner was the Middle School Principal at Gestalt Community Schools in Memphis, Tennessee, where she also served as Dean of Instruction and the Founding Turnaround High School Academy Director at Frayser Community Schools.
