FAmily Monthly News

School Updates

Hello FAmilies,

We are so proud of the academic progress our scholars are making this year – recently shared statewide school performance reports from 2022-23 show FA ranks in the top third of all public schools in New Jersey!

I am confident that our work together this year will continue our rise as scholars prepare for statewide NJSLA assessments later this month. We have been working hard, building confidence and gaining new skills. Our scholars are ready to show what they know!

To build on our achievements, FA is providing a free Summer Bridge academic and enrichment program to prevent summer learning loss and set your scholar up for success in the 2024-25 school year.

All scholars entering kindergarten, third grade and ninth grade are required to attend the program Monday-Friday, from July 8 - August 2.

Our programs are being led by Courtnee’ Walter, a FA Collegiate Dean of Instruction, and Vianney Anzures, a grade level chair at FA Collegiate.

Schools will provide summer work for all grades in June to ensure scholars are still practicing reading and math skills over the summer.

We are so proud of the progress all our scholars are making this year. Let’s keep up the good work!

Make sure your scholars come to school every day on time, rested and ready to do their best.

In community,

Natasia Cooper
Chief Academic Officer

Highlights: FA National Honor Society Goes Beyond Academics

Scholarship. Service. Leadership. Character. At FA Collegiate, members of The National Honor Society are living those NHS pillars by speaking out, and reaching out, to support their community.

Every NHS member is a focused, and high-achieving scholar. Members must have a grade point average of at least 3.6 on a 4.0 scale to be eligible for membership. But they don’t stop there.

“Service is a really big part of NHS,” said Senior Hobbes Chukumba – service to Trenton and to their classmates.

This year, NHS members are working with the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen to distribute about 100 meals every week to members of the FA community. Scholars in need are able to sign-up to receive a meal once a week – no questions asked. If any meals are not claimed, NHS puts them in the school lobby for scholars to take home.

NHS members also opened a Resource Room with items such as fidget toys, food, school supplies, and clothes (business wear) for scholars to take whenever they need.

They help provide academic support for scholars at risk of failing, matching them with scholars for tutoring and then checking on their progress. Read more about NHS service activities
