Foundation Academy Middle School and Collegiate Academy Proudly Complete the 2019 Spring Concert Season

Foundation Collegiate Academy scholar musicians perform at The College of New Jersey’s Mayo Hall on June 13.

As we near the end of the school year and prepare for graduation and summer break, our calendar becomes increasingly active with joyful ceremonies and celebrations. The culmination of our Spring Concert season was no exception.

A busy year of music instruction in our Strings Program culminated with our final concerts of the season taking place on June 13 with Foundation Collegiate Academy (FCA), and June 14 with Foundation Academy Middle School scholars proudly showcasing all that they have learned this year.

On June 13, our FCA students and their families excitedly filled The College of New Jersey’s Mayo Hall. Featuring our FCA Youth Orchestra, VAEO Quartet, Highwire Orchestra, Senior Quartet and the Skyliners Orchestra, each ensemble played selections that perfectly showcased how hard our scholars have been working all year.

“I’m always amazed at our students’ ability to perform their best when the pressure is on in front of an audience, and they continue to get better at this with every concert,” said Ryan Kiple, Director, Foundation Academy Strings Program. “They’ve made steady and consistent musical progress all year, but I sensed something intangible at the 2019 Spring Concert. They embrace the spotlight and perform with a sense of passion and excitement that I believe our listeners could feel.”

For our graduating seniors, this concert served as a poignant moment in time, as this would be their last as FCA students. After all of the years of learning and rehearsals, it would come down to this final performance. The energy in the air was palpable as our scholars played their hearts out on Mayo Hall’s beautiful stage.

On June 14, our Middle School students would have the honor of closing our Spring Concert season with their concert held at The College of New Jersey’s Kendall Hall. Under the direction of Adam Kowalski (6th grade) and Frank Pendergrast (7th and 8th grade), our scholars beamed with joy as they played their pieces to the delight of their families in the audience.

Throughout the concert, the 6th, 7th and 8th grade orchestras each performed their pieces and scales skillfully. To close the evening with a special treat for our proud parents and families, the 8th grade orchestra featured a vocal performance by our first-ever 8th grade chorus, who sang along with the orchestra in their final musical selection.

The beautiful music performed by our students at their final concerts of 2019 stands as a fitting testament to their dedication and commitment to our core belief of Excellence Always. We’re sending congratulations to all of our students on the completion of a great year in our Strings Program. Well done, scholars!
