News Our FAmilies Can Use
As we enter the summer, Foundation Academies recognizes that stress and strain caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and economic upheaval doesn’t stop when classes end.
“The pandemic created a significant shift which caused isolation and changes in development for our scholars,” said Lismarie Acevedo, an FA social worker. “Having access to resources to develop tools to grow socially and emotionally will help in creating long-term success academically and in life as well.”
The pandemic also prompted changes in our national and local economy, with inflation now straining household incomes, said Christina Mangus, guidance counselor at Foundation Academy Collegiate.
“As we enter the summer, families may require community based assistance for various reasons,” she said. “So Foundation Academies developed a Resource guide for families in the Trenton community.”
The guides available in English and Spanish include phone numbers, addresses, and websites for food assistance, utility assistance, emergency shelter, health care, mental health services, and more, all curated from state, city, and county resources. Check the Parent Resources webpage for more helpful information.
“It may be summer time,” Ms. Mangus said. “But Foundation Academies is always here for our families.”
