IMPORTANT: Summer Skills Work for Your Scholar

Teamwork

This year, FA is not offering Summer Academy for our scholars — but principals have shared special packets of learning materials to help your child retain and strengthen skills they will need for the upcoming academic year.

Please see below for details. Can’t wait to see you in August!

FA Primary Families

This year, students in grades Kindergarten through Second Grade will not participate in Summer Academy – but we are providing summer packets to allow scholars to practice reading skills they should have learned in their previous grade.

These skills will continue to be addressed in the upcoming year, in addition to introduction of new material. The goal of summer practice is to help scholars strengthen the foundational skills they will need to build learning in the next school year.

Completing this packet will prepare your student for taking the iReady assessments at the start of the 2022-2023 school to determine their areas of strength and needed growth.

We wish you an awesome and safe summer, and we look forward to seeing you in August for our 2022-2023 school year.

FA Intermediate School Families

In order to support your students’ transition as incoming 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, we are providing summer packets to enrich their learning.

These packets will give your scholars the opportunity to practice skills they will need to prepare them for a strong start in August. The packets include both reading and math skills.

Summer packets were provided to each scholar during the last week of school. Download 3rd Grade packet. Download 4th Grade Packet

There are endless studies and research results to prove the importance of continued reading and math practice throughout the summer. If you are interested in additional practice for your student, please refer to the following websites:

FA Middle School Families

This year, incoming students will not participate in summer school but we have provided summer packets to enrich scholar learning.

These packets allow scholars to practice skills that they should have learned in their previous grade. The packets are provided for both reading and math. The skills will continue to be addressed in the upcoming year along with new material. The goal of this practice is to assist scholars in the foundational skills needed for the upcoming school year.

There are numerous studies and research results demonstrating the importance of continued reading and math practice throughout the summer. If a scholar is having difficulty, we encourage them to use Khan Academy www.khanacademy.org for both reading and math support. The videos will walk them through the fundamentals of each skill in the packet.

Scholars will be required to take our iReady assessment at the start of the 2022-2023 school to determine areas of strength and needed growth in both reading and math. Packets were provided to scholars at the end of school and are available in the front office and at the links below.

Have an awesome and safe summer and we look forward to a new 2022-2023 school year.
