Safety First at FA
For Safety Awareness month, IS scholars focused on being prepared and staying safe, at home, at school and on the internet.
Scholars designed a "FA Fighting for Safety" logo for special t-shirts and welcomed Trenton firefighters, police and Mercer County Assistant Prosecutor Allie Beyrouty, who urged scholars to be wary when using text, email or social media. As chief of the internet crimes against children unit, she also warned them not to share any personal information, never set up secret meetings and always tell a trusted adult if someone makes you feel uncomfortable in any way.
Special thanks to our food service Maschios for sending Chef Avery to discuss how to keep foods safe to eat and avoid food poisoning.
"It was wonderful to have our community members come to FA to share their experiences with our scholars,” said PE/Health Teacher Lois Fyfe. “Scholars really listened and talked later about how the presentations increased their knowledge, awareness and some of the ways they have changed their behaviors to increase their personal safety."
