Shout Out to FA School Nurses

School Nurse Carmen Soto was hired to work at Foundation Academy Collegiate in 2020 – not long before the COVID-19 pandemic upended school life.
“It was crazy,” she recalled.
More than two years later, Nurse Carmen is still helping students, families, faculty and staff deal with COVID. The same health concerns keep Foundation Academy Primary nurses, Deborah Negron and Jatzi Nieto, busy.
“If I had one wish it would be that all this would be over and we could get back to normal,” Nurse Deborah said.
Working in a school is akin to an emergency room, they said – you never know what is coming in the door. From skinned knees to tummy aches, COVID to kidney stones, these nurses see it all as they share advice and try to teach students healthy habits – like taking the stairs instead of elevators and drinking water instead of sugary drinks.
Today, National School Nurse Day, our FAmily wants to thank these kind and caring individuals for taking such good care of us!
